Excitement Builds for American Sprint Car Series at Texarkana 67 Speedway
TEXARKANA, Ark. — Following a thrilling race weekend in Kansas, the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) is set to make its much-anticipated return to Texarkana 67 Speedway this Saturday, June 7. The event marks the 13th installment of the series at the quarter-mile oval, with a lucrative $4,000 prize for the winner.
The ASCS made its debut at Texarkana in 1998, with three-time champion Tim Crawley clinching the inaugural victory. Crawley, along with fellow champion Gary Wright, holds the record for most wins at the venue, having both claimed triumphed thrice.
In a notable development, Sam Hafertepe Jr. is shifting focus after securing his 80th career ASCS Feature win at Dodge City Raceway Park. The five-time champion is now the second-winningest driver in the series’ history, sitting 48 victories behind Gary Wright, who leads with 128 wins. Hafertepe is also the defending champion at Texarkana, where he has consistently finished in the top 10.
Arkansas native Jordon Mallett, who has recently joined the full-time roster, aims to capture his first national points championship. With three top-10 finishes in the current season, Mallett is looking to improve upon his previous performance at Texarkana, where he finished sixth last June.
Additionally, Matt Covington is striving for success as he trails Hafertepe in the national standings. Covington, who previously finished third at Texarkana last year, aims to narrow the 61-point gap.
Young driver Austyn Gossel is also gearing up for a strong showing after achieving his best career finish of second at Dodge City, now eyeing further success in Texarkana.
As the series returns, all eyes will be on the drivers as they compete for glory in this exciting event.
