Arkansas Football Transfer Portal Targets: Key Positions the Razorbacks Need to Fill

Arkansas Football Faces Urgent Transfer Portal Challenge Ahead of Upcoming Bowl

As Arkansas football prepares for its Liberty Bowl matchup against Texas Tech, the team finds itself in a precarious position in the transfer portal. As of Thursday, the Razorbacks have signed eight new players while losing 20, amidst projections that 15 starters will depart from the 2024 squad, which concluded its regular season with a 6-6 record.

Head Coach Sam Pittman faces a daunting task over the next ten days, as the winter transfer portal remains open until December 28. His focus will soon shift to spring football, making this period critical for rebuilding the roster.

Among the new additions, Oregon’s JacQawn McRoy, a 6-foot-8, 375-pound offensive lineman, stands out as a potential immediate starter. Arkansas has also beefed up its offensive line with the signings of Georgia Tech’s Corey Robinson II and UCF’s Caden Kitler. To improve the passing game, the Razorbacks acquired three receivers: Fresno State’s Raylen Sharpe, UAB’s Kam Shanks, and Texas A&M’s Jaden Platt.

On defense, Arkansas welcomed former Oklahoma defensive back Kani Walker and Michigan State defensive end Ken Talley, both of whom bring experience and potential to the squad.

Despite these signings, Arkansas still has pressing needs, especially on offense, as they look to fill significant gaps left by departing players. They aim to secure at least one more wide receiver, with Alabama’s Kendrick Law being a top target, and are also seeking dual running back options.

The Razorbacks’ hope is to enhance their roster depth, particularly in key positions, ahead of the upcoming season, making this critical transfer portal phase pivotal for their future success.
