Pepsi Challenge Returns: Taste Test Hits Bentonville
Bentonville, AR – Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the iconic Pepsi Challenge is making a comeback with a modern twist. Originally launched in 1975, this series of blind taste tests showcased consumer preferences between Pepsi and Coke, solidifying Pepsi’s standing in the market. This week, local soda enthusiasts have the chance to participate in the revamped "Taste Tour ’25," featuring a taste test of Pepsi Zero Sugar against Coca-Cola Zero Sugar.
From June 5-7, Bentonville Square will host the Pepsi Challenge, inviting attendees to sample both beverages. The tastings will take place during Thursday’s Movie Nights, Friday’s First Friday Festival of Nations, and at the Bentonville Farmers Market on Sunday. According to Pepsi’s press release, ongoing results indicate that “100% of markets have preferred the taste of Pepsi Zero Sugar” so far.
Participants will receive free Pepsi Zero Sugar as an incentive, with the playful tagline, “because even those with questionable taste deserve a second chance.” This invitation encourages everyone to engage, regardless of their usual soda preference.
