New Tenant Set to Revitalize Former Cañon Grill Space in Hillcrest
LITTLE ROCK, AR – The Hillcrest neighborhood is set to welcome a new dining option as plans progress for a restaurant in the former Cañon Grill location at 2811 Kavanaugh Blvd. Daniel Bryant, the building owner, had previously announced that he leased the property to a group with successful existing eateries in the area, emphasizing that a full breakfast menu would be featured.
While specifics about the tenant remained undisclosed, sources indicated that the restaurant group behind the downtown establishments @ The Corner and Flora Jean’s was likely to take the helm. Despite multiple attempts to reach out to the King sisters—Helen Grace, Leila, and Kamiya—who run these eateries, no comments were received at the time.
However, recent developments confirm their involvement. Leila King has applied for a building permit with the City of Little Rock for interior renovations of the 2,200-square-foot space. The King sisters opened their modern diner @ The Corner in 2015 and launched Flora Jean’s, a wellness-focused restaurant, in 2023. The agreement for the new restaurant includes access to the adjacent Hillcrest Fountain’s patio during daytime hours.
The former Cañon Grill, known for its Tex-Mex offerings and crispy chicken nachos, stood vacant for most of the COVID-19 pandemic and officially closed in July 2023. This new venture is anticipated to revitalize the location and enhance the dining landscape in Hillcrest.
